If they were alive today....

....it would be the birthday of the following notables:

 

Legendary entertainer Gypsy Rose Lee  would have been 100 today.  The musical Gypsy, considered by many to be the greatest Broadway musical ever,  is based on her memoirs.

William Henry Harrison would have turned 238 today.  He was the 9th president of the U.S., though he served only 32 days in office, dying of complications from a cold at the age of 68.
                      

Fyodor Dostoyevsky would be 190 today.  One of the most popular Russian novelists, having written Crime and Punishment and The Brothers Karamazov. 

Silent film heartthrob, Ronald Colman, would be 120.  He successfully made the leap to talking films and won the "Best Actor" Oscar in 1947 for A Double Life.

Dashing, bad-guy character actor Brian Donlevy, 110

Viennese cabaret chanteuse, Greta Keller, 103.

Lovely MGM soprano, Kathryn Grayson, would be 89 today (she only passed away this past February).                                             

James Murray, 110.  He was a virtual unknown who was selected by King Vidor to star as the "everyman" in one of the greatest of silent films, The Crowd.  He delivered one of the most poignant, natural performances ever seen in silent films. Sadly, he couldn't keep the momentum of his career going and only eight years later, he jumped off a pier into the Hudson River to his death (eerily echoing a similar scene in the film).
