...today, these notables would be celebrating their birthday:
One of Hollywood's most beloved entertainers,
Jimmy "Schnozzola" Durante would be 118.
Australian song-and-dance-man, Peter Allen would be 67. He became Liza Minnelli's first husband (above) in 1967.
Russian poet/novelist Boris Pasternak would be 121. His most notable work was Dr. Zhivago, for which he was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature. Under great pressure from Soviet officials, he regretfully declined the award.
"Big Bill" Tilden, 118. Considered one of history's all-time great tennis champions, his career was ruined after he was implicated in multiple sexual scandals, involving underaged male prostitutes; one of the incidents resulted in a 7 1/2 month incarceration.
Judith Anderson, 114. She will forever be remembered for her positively chilling performance as "Mrs. Danvers," the demonic housekeeper in the Hitchcock film, Rebecca.

And a happy birthday to the very much living legend, Leontyne Price. Miss Price broke many color barriers in the opera world and reigned supreme at the Metropolitan Opera for decades.
Today, she turns 84.
