Whoopi Goldberg, could you kindly SHUT THE #$^@&* UP??

Agggghhhhh.....I feel a rant coming on.  I am so, SO sick of hearing the "views" of this Hollywood has-been, who has taken the money and run, leaving her credibility, her once-admirable comedic talents and her appealing demeanor in the toilet, and repeatedly flushes it every time she opens her big mouth.  Her latest ridiculous antics involve a New York Times story whose entire gist was to ponder why, of all the Academy Award nominees this year, every one of them is white?  She apparently scanned the article once, looking for her name...and when discovering that the writers of this article had the temerity....the nerve to leave her out of a  discussion about black Academy Award winners---well!  On Tuesday's The View, she was utterly indignant and "hurt" and "couldn't help but take it personally".  She launched into a several minute tirade about the "shoddy journalism" and instructing the writers to "get their facts straight".  Uh, what facts are those?  Her Oscar was awarded exactly 20 years ago and they were talking about black actors currently working in Hollywood.  Just asking, but when did she last make a film?  Co-hosting an annoying television morning show and sitting in the center square of  Hollywood Squares don't exactly put you at the head of the pack when thinking about the Hollywood "A-List".  And speaking of "getting facts straight," in the midst of her screed, she wailed that no black actress had won an Academy Award for the 70 years between her and Hattie McDaniel in Gone With the Wind.  Correction, Whoops: Hattie, 1939--you, 1991. By my addition, that is 52 years. Nitpicking, perhaps.  But if you are going to launch into an attack on someone about "getting their facts straight," you may just want to do the same yourself.

Her credibility is completely shot, and it seems that with each passing year, she becomes more humorless, more strident and so much less likable.  To prove her point, in the midst of her rant, she slammed her Oscar on the table as if to validate her worth.  It was truly pathetic.  She stopped one step short of out-and-out declaring it racism...I think even she knew that that would have been a large mistake. But clearly that is what she was implying. You could almost see her thumbing her deck of cards, just getting ready to pull out that "race card".

Even more pathetic, today she issued an "apology"....sort of.  It was anything but sincere and was clearly "suggested" by the producers of The View.  In it, she snarled, "I said that I felt the reporting was shoddy and for that I'm going to apologize, OK? I personally found the article really confusing, and as I said, I was also quite hurt that Cuba Gooding Jr., Louis Gossett Jr., and myself were not included in this expose about black Hollywood. But for saying it was shoddy reporting, I apologize, New York Times."

She has become a parody of herself; a once-respected Hollywood star and a truly brilliant comedian.  But there's nothing funny about a humorless comedian.  Whoopi, it's time to pack up your misplaced rage at this big, hateful, racist world, which has treated you so very poorly, take the blood money you've taken by slapping your name on crap and find yourself another career...far from the public eye.

  1. Could not agree more. What happened to the down to earth, warm and funny woman with the wonderful smile? She has become a mean spirited shrew. Lest we not forget her 'joke' on her paramour - the loveable, yet slightly dim Ted Danson. Sending him to the slaughter in blackface, while the Whoopster conveniently was a no show. Honey, spend a little less time bitchin' and a bit more time doing power showers. I'd say a tub, but recollections of Annie Lebowitz' sudsy tub shots have scarred me.
